  • Under the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Technical School. At KCC career technical education programs prepare students for both career options and post-secondary education and training. In addition, students learn what will be expected of them in the world of work, create a career portfolio and develop the skills necessary to apply and interview for a job.

  • The Juneau Black Awareness Association was formed to promote awareness about the richness, joy, and strength of Black American cultures, contributions, and lives within the larger Juneau community. Further, the BAA exists to encourage education and assist people with Black American heritage in the advancement of their professional, social, and personal lives. To facilitate these goals, the BAA schedules meetings, provides scholarships to students with African-American heritage, provides grants for schools needing funding for books, and curriculums about Black American heritage, hosts Juneau’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration, hosts an annual Black History Month celebration, and works with other groups to provide wholesome recreation activities for children and families.
